The ship is safest when it is in port, but that’s not what ships were built for. – Paulo Coelho, The Pilgrimage
Hello, we are Matt Hinkley and Jasmin Henzi. Matt is 27 years old, worked as a mechanical engineer and comes from Cobden, Victoria, Australia. Jasi is 25 years old, worked as a junior project manager in communications and comes from Wattenwil, Bern, Switzerland.
We met in the Summer of 2015 in a hostel in Lagos, Portugal. Jasi just finished walking the way of St. James in Spain and Matt started his first big solo Europe trip a few days before. Although at that time Matt was living in Australia and Jasi in Switzerland, we fell in love. Soon we realised that we didn’t have to start the search for a new home together. We both wanted to travel. As long and as adventurous as possible.
We have been an adventure seeking couple from the very start of our relationship. The idea of a bicycle trip from Wattenwil to Cobden was born in summer 2016. Matt thinks he came up with the idea and Jasi thinks it was her idea first. Anyway, after one year of planning, shopping and organising, our cycle touring trip started on the 9th of July 2017. Now, after 1 year on the road, look how we have changed!
